Spooks 8 is showing in Oz on UKTV (Foxtel/Austar, channels 103 & 156) on Thursdays at 7.30 pm (Eastern Daylight Saving Time). (Thanks to Ariadne)

Episode 1 of 3 part series 'Expedition Tiger' (aired in the UK as 'Lost Land of the Tiger') is airing in Australia on ABC1 6:05 pm Sunday nights beginning 5th February. You can listen to an audio excerpt on our Voiceovers page under 'Lost Land of the Tiger'.

Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace 3D will be released in Australian cinemas from February 9th.This is Richard's first movie apperance. If you want to know what 'blink and you'll miss' him moments to look out for, check out the pics in our Early Career page.

The 2012 Preview issue of Entertainment Weekly has a small article on The Hobbit as one of the movies "We Can't Wait For." (January 20, 2012 issue, page 30)

MTV.com spoke with Richard about his role as Thorin. The interview is posted with the Hobbit trailer. The vid might not be accessible if you're outside the US. Movies.com has published a Hobbit Countdown Character Study of Thorin Oakenshield. They say, "..the dwarf who is most likely to become a household name is the more fully titled Thorin Oakenshield and we think not only will we have an unforgettable character on the first Hobbit day (Dec. 14, 2012) but also the actor Richard Armitage will become a household name. While there are many who know and love the English actor, that day and the films, will change his career forever."

Netflix is launching itself in the UK with a deal enabling streaming of The Hobbit.

Strike Back series 1 is being aired in the United Arab Emirates. The National (an English-speaking newspaper based in Abu Dhabi) has reviewed the series and asked Richard what he thinks of John Porter:

"He's a great man. I wanted to make him somebody I could really aspire to be, and give him qualities that I would want, if I were a better person. So I put him up on a pinnacle. ..."

Strike Back series 1premieres on January 11, and will be broadcast on Wednesdays and Thursdays on OSN First HD, OSN First and OSN First +2.

The 9-part television documentary series, HMS Ark Royal, narrated by Richard and which aired in the UK from February until April last year, is airing on Sunday mornings at 12.30 am in Australia on the Discovery +2 Channel 620 and Austar Channel 608.
